Update

We have made the decision to move the April 8th meeting from in-person to ONLINE. This provides the opportunity for everyone to gather online, stay safe and still connect, only virtually.

  • Moving online, even more people can participate from far and wide.

  • You will be able to keep yourself and others happy, healthy, and safe while still connecting and learning valuable and inspiring insights. Join us from the comfort of your own home in your comfy clothes and hot cup of tea or whatever immune boosting beverage is your choice.

  • We will still have a Q&A section of the presentation with Dr. Schwartz - as a group we will be able to ask and interact with specific questions and observations.

  • We will still get to “see” each other. With Zoom technology, we are able to not only see the speaker, we also can see the participants in “Hollywood Squares” type fashion. After registering for the event, you will receive a link to join the live broadcast on 4/8/2020.

  • If the date and time was preventing you from being able to attend, we will record the evening and provide the link following for those who would like the replay.

  • If the pricing had been the cause of not registering, you are in luck! Now the meeting will be $15 for guests, $12 for members, a great value and savings! (Attendees who previously registered for the February event and wished to apply their payment to April will receive a partial refund for the difference. No action is required. You have already been registered for April's event and your partial refund will process within the next 5-7 business days. You will receive an emailed link to join the live broadcast via Zoom on the day of the event. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding!)

Description

Join us for an exciting virtual evening with Gary E. Schwartz, PhD, as he discusses his latest findings he is publishing in his most recent book, Extraordinary Claims Require Extraordinary Evidence: The Science and Ethics of Truth Seeking and Truth Abuse.

In his own words:

~

When people (be they scientists, students, skeptics, grieving parents, media) would ask me why I began doing controversial research on the question of the possibility of survival of consciousness after physical death – an extraordinary claim, if ever there was one – I confessed to being “pushed and pulled in the same direction.” I would say:

“I was pushed there by science, by theory, reasoning, and evidence.

But I was pulled there by love, by Linda’s love for her deceased father, by Susy’s love for her deceased mother, by Stardust’s love for her deceased husband, etc.

And when you are pushed and pulled in the same direction, it’s very hard to resist.”

[Since then, there has been a number of extraordinary claims and supporting evidence and] in each instance, the professional pushing was not, by itself, enough (sufficient) for me to act on the existing scientific theory and evidence. Each professional “pushing force” required the simultaneous addition of a strong personal “pulling force” – specifically of love, caring, and compassion surrounding the specific claim – for me to take the professional plunge and transform my private (covert) conceptual musings into scientific (overt) research actions.

Metaphorically speaking – and maybe physiologically as well – what was required was a confluence / synergy / harmony between my head and heart, both pointing in the same direction, for me to have the courage (and some would say, fool heartedness) to address such controversial claims.

Extraordinary opportunities now exist for us to mature and evolve as a global species, but we will need extraordinary education if we are to benefit from these precious opportunities for our children and future generations.

The opportunity is here; the choice is ours.
